Dyckerhoff Cement ordered one SpectraFlow Airslide Analyzer for their Deuna plant in Germany to optimize their LSF STDEV of the raw meal.

About Dyckerhoff Cement Co.:

Established in 1864 by Wilhelm Gustav Dyckerhoff in Wiesbaden, Dyckerhoff Cement is one of the most historical cement producers worldwide. A milestone in the early history of the company was the delivery of 8000 barrels of cement for the base of the Statue of Liberty in New York in 1886. In 1909 the first rotary kiln was set into operation and in 1931 one of the most important innovations, the production of white cement was started. Dyckerhoff was always one of the most innovative cement producers and in 1959 the first dry kiln with a heat exchanger worldwide started its operation.

From the end of 1980 Dyckerhoff was expanding rapidly and in 1991 the plant in Deuna was acquired. Dyckerhoff further expanded to Russia, Poland, Czech Republic and the Ukraine. Beside the acquisition of cement plants Dyckerhoff was expanding its business in the concrete market as well. 2001 Buzzi Unicem started the acquisition of the Dyckerhoff group and finalized it in 2013 by taking over all remaining shares.

Today the Dyckerhoff group has a capacity of 19.2m tons of cement/year in 13 cement plants. Beside the cement production Dyckerhoff is operating several ready-mix plants.

Operations of Dyckerhoff Cement Co.:

Germany: 6 cement plants, 2 grinding units, 7.8 m tons of cement/year

Luxemburg: 1 cement plant, 1.4 m tons of cement/year

Poland: 1 cement plant, 1.6m tons of cement/year

Czech Republic: 1 cement plant, 1.1m tons of cement/year

Ukraine, 2 cement plants, 3.0m tons of cement/year

Russia, 2 cement plants, 4.3 m tons cement/year

SpectraFlow Installation for Raw Mill Optimization:

The SpectraFlow Airslide Analyzer is the online analyzer to be able to measure raw materials in airslides. As raw materials in airslides are very homogeneous and dry the analytical results of the SpectraFlow Airslide Analyzer are very accurate and based on these accurate results the RMP control software can optimize the weight feeders before the raw mill in real time every minute. This results in very low LSF STDEV without the need of extensive sampling and laboratory efforts.

By using SpectraFlow an increase in the stockpile quality will be achieved.

Summarized benefits are:

No need of intensive sampling. No automated sample transport system, no automated laboratory required.

High cost reduction due to reduced laboratory usage (CAPEX, OPEX, man power,…)

The analyzer together with the RMP Raw Mix Proportioning control software is fully automating the raw mill operation. The analyzer delivers the analytical results and according the setpoint the software is adjusting the weight feeders of the additive bins.

Adjustment of the weight feeders in real time every minute. No time delay due to sampling, sample preparation,…

Introducing redundancy for the raw mill control. SpectraFlow is delivering the chemical results for the weight feeder control normally, while as a back-up, the laboratory can be used in the rare case, that the SpectraFlow Analyzer is not available.

Lower LSF STDEV/better and more consistent raw mill quality

SpectraFlow Analytics Ltd. Switzerland are the experts in providing online analysis for the cement and minerals industry without any radioactive sources nor neutron generators. The NIR technology used for the SpectraFlow Analyzers is not requiring any permits or licenses and there are no restrictions in buying, importing or maintaining the analyzers. This results in very low operating costs and high availability of the analyzers combined with highly accurate measurement results.
