SPECTRAFLOW SECURES NEW CROSSBELT ANALYZER ORDER FROM MA'ADEN ALUMINA, SAUDI ARABIA

SpectraFlow Analytics has received an order for three SpectraFlow Crossbelt Analyzers from Ma'aden Alumina Company in Saudi Arabia. These analyzers will be deployed at Ma'aden's Al Baitha Mine in Qassim Province and the Ras Al Khair Refinery in the Eastern Province. This project represents a complete turnkey solution, with SpectraFlow providing the sensor technology and regional partner Esnad delivering the necessary infrastructure.

SpectraFlow is a leading supplier of online analyzers in Saudi Arabia, with over 10 operational installations across the country. This new order expands SpectraFlow's bauxite/alumina application footprint to Saudi Arabia, building on existing installations in China, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates. Beyond the alumina industry, SpectraFlow offers online analysis solutions for cement, iron ore, gold, platinum, copper, potash, phosphate, and recycling, continuously broadening its application scope within these sectors.

About Ma'aden Alumina Company

Founded in 1997, Ma'aden Mining Company began operations with the opening of the Mahd Al Dhahab gold mine. In 2007, Ma'aden Phosphate Company was established in partnership with SABIC. Ma'aden expanded into alumina in 2009, establishing Ma'aden Aluminum Company with ALCOA. This partnership led to the development of the first fully integrated aluminum complex, encompassing bauxite mining in Al Baitha and state-of-the-art alumina smelting and rolling at Ras Al Khair, which produces over 1 million tons of premium-grade alumina annually.

In 2021, Ma'aden's Board of Directors approved the Ma'aden 2040 Strategy, an ambitious plan for sustainable growth, global mining excellence, and technological leadership. SpectraFlow's advanced online analyzers, which deliver precise quality results to optimize various process steps, align with this strategic vision.

Today, the $10.8 billion Ras Al Khair alumina complex stands as the world's largest vertically integrated alumina production facility, supplying global and regional markets with exports to 22 countries across five continents.

SpectraFlow Crossbelt Analyzer: Optimizing Bauxite Mining and Alumina Refining

The SpectraFlow Crossbelt Analyzer provides high-frequency online measurement of raw materials on belt conveyors. After crushing, raw materials on the conveyor belt become statistically homogeneous, enabling highly accurate analytical results from the SpectraFlow Crossbelt Analyzer. These precise, high-frequency results allow for continuous monitoring of Run-of-Mine (ROM) feed at various process locations, enabling immediate operational adjustments.

At Ma'aden's Baitha mine, one SpectraFlow Online Analyzer will be positioned after the crusher and before the stockpile to optimize ore control and blending, and provide feed forward infomration to the bauxite train dispatch. The two additional analyzers will be located at the Ras Al Khair refinery to enhance and increase the refinery's production. SpectraFlow also has a proven application in smelters for monitoring sodium contamination of recycled crushed butts. This application offers significant return on investment by optimizing the recycling process to control sodium content, thereby achieving the highest possible efficiency in bath monitoring and recycled butt production.

Key Benefits of the SpectraFlow Analyzer:

  • High Measurement Frequency: Measures every 420 ms (150 measurements per minute).

  • Real-Time Data: Provides real minute-by-minute results, not averages. Measurement output frequency can be increased (e.g., for sorting purposes).

  • Comprehensive Analysis: Real-time measurement of elements, mineral phases, and organic compounds.

  • Easy Installation, Operation, and Maintenance.

  • Safety and Compliance: Free of radioactive sources, neutron generators, or any hazardous components. This means the SpectraFlow Analyzer does not require any permits or licenses regarding importation, operation, or maintenance.

  • Operational Safety: Completely safe, allowing maintenance by operational personnel, with sources storable in an onsite warehouse.

  • Introducing online measurement enables comprehensive monitoring of ROM, making it possible to use highly variable raw materials without decreasing the quality of the feed to the plant.

  • SpectraFlow acknowledges Ma'aden's confidence in our technology and partnership with Esnad. We are committed to supporting Ma'aden in achieving its goal of technological leadership within the industry.
